Can I filter specific URLs with categories instead of having to duplicate the indexing of the same URLS in a new dataset to provide segmented content areas?

During the beta testing period of Shop Bot Pro, the vast majority of merchants who were segmenting their datasets for specific-use cases such as knowledge base articles wanted the ability to fine-tune and/or rename the content in the specific (segmented) dataset differently than the primary dataset content. After much feedback, we determined that the easiest method was to allow users to simply create a new dataset and add the specific URLS that applied to that dataset only since they could then rename the results title and/or modify the search results excerpt text to better reflect the segment.

i.e. Many merchants preferred to label a knowledge base article on their primary site dataset as something like ‘KNOWLEDGE BASE (KB) : DOCUMENT TITLE’ while if the same article was returned by their segmented search, it would only be called ‘DOCUMENT TITLE’.  Many merchants also wanted to include different search results images for the primary dataset and the segmented dataset(s).

Furthermore, almost every merchant who segments their URLS into specific site areas require a different search form and/or virtual assistant appearance for that segment. Therefore, creating unique datasets with the specific URLs the site area solved that issue as well since if the result set was simply filtered by a category instead of a stand-alone “new” dataset, the tool’s appearance would still reflect the primary dataset’s theme and settings.

Note: We provide a very generous number of quota URLs in every plan specifically to account for situations where the site requires duplication of some URLs in multiple datasets. We have not encountered any merchants who exceeded their content URL quota even when segmenting with different datasets. The primary reason most merchants will need to upgrade to a higher quota plan is due to the site usage (unique users) exceeding their plan’s sessions quota and not the available number of indexable URLs in their plan.
